Education Matters

I have a bachelor’s degree in political science, with minors in economics and psychology and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA). For a Madison Realtor to have an MBA is admittedly pretty unusual and I think that among the few Wisconsin Realtors with MBAs you will find that most of us have extensive backgrounds in business before becoming a Realtor. My corporate experience in strategic planning, marketing and communications has proven to be beneficial to my clients and customers and as a Madison Realtor I am anxious to put that experience to work for you.

I have a number of real estate specialist designations a Madison Realtor can earn, representing hours of additional education and experience, they include: Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) and Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES). I also have a certification for short sales and foreclosures (SFR) and I am certified for international sales referrals (INCRA). This allows me to better serve my transnational and expat clients.

New construction has its own set of ins and outs whether you are working with a semi-custom developer like Veridian or one of the full custom builders like Hart DeNoble or Michael F. Simon. Because there are so many parties involved in new construction I think it is especially important to have a Madison Realtor on your side every step of the way. That’s where having a buyer’s agent for your Madison Realtor comes into play— and it’s a service I genuinely enjoy providing. Having a buyer’s agent who is experienced in assisting buyers with new construction projects can make the difference between a very complicated transaction and a reasonably hassle-free experience. First Time Home Buyers

First-time buyers of Madison homes can find the whole process to be a bit overwhelming without a good Madison Realtor working as their Buyer’s Agent. It can at times seem anything but straight forward, which makes having a Madison Realtor serving as your Accredited Buyer Representative a great idea. Having a Madison Realtor who’s a buyer agent puts an expert in real estate in the position of working for you… and that levels the playing field. Best of all, in almost every case, the listing broker will pay your buyer agent’s commission. I know it sounds too good to be true: your own Madison Realtor working for you at no cost but the fact of the matter is the seller pays the listing broker a commission to sell the home. The listing broker in turn pays the other brokers who are involved in the sale: and listing brokers are normally as willing to pay a buyer’s agent as they are a cooperating agent. Why? Because the listing agent just wants a buyer and they are willing to pay the agent who brings the buyer for doing so. When all is said and done, you get the service of a Madison Realtor acting as your buyer agent and the listing broker “gets the bill.”

  • I am an avid woodworker, cabinet and clock builder and stained-glass craftsman, and have just recently completed designing my own dream home.
  • I play piano, and a family of saxophones from Baritone to Soprano. Saxophone Player artI am an alto-sax soloist and member of two Madison area bands as well as a saxophone ensemble. I believe I am the only active Madison Realtor in any of these groups.
  • I am president of Hooked on Bands, Inc., the non-profit corporation that is the principal sponsor of the Madison New Horizons Concert and Swing Bands.
  • I have a Vespa Grand Tourisimo motor scooter that I really enjoy riding… especially on warm summer afternoons and crisp fall weekends.
  • I am a photographer, and have taken all the photographs you will see on my Madison Realtor website. I have lugged 30lbs of cameras, lenses and miscellaneous equipment all over Europe on several occasions. (Where was digital then?)
  • Molly the AiredaleThen there’s Molly, my 12-year old Airedale. With her, I think the old saying of a picture being worth “10,000 words” says it best. She’s a sweetheart!
