Your Complete Guide to South Central Wisconsin Real Estate for Sale.
One of the most distinctive features of Madison Tudor homes is the decorative half-timbering that gives the style a Medieval feel. And while you might think these Madison Tudor homes could date back to England’s Tudor Dynasty (circa 1500), they really are a relatively modern architectural expression that would perhaps be more aptly named Tudor Revival. Rather than just presenting a limited number of Madison Tudor homes, I have expanded the gallery to let you see Tudor style homes throughout Dane County. However; I believe you will find them all within the Madison metro area.

What Makes Tudor Tudor?
Tudor is a style that is applied to both modest and massive manses and typically feature steeply pitched roofs, tall, narrow windows with diminutive panes, large gables and massive chimneys, frequently with decorative tops called chimney pots. The smaller homes tend to mimic medial cottages while the estate homes pattern themselves after massive Medieval palaces. Of course there’s lots of room in between. As such the style was extremely popular during the 1920s and ‘30s and was revived yet again in the 1970s and ‘80s. And it is enjoying a resurgence of popularity today.
