Real Estate Agents and Brokers who want to maximize their ability to assist their clients and customers can pursue advanced study programs in specific areas of real estate practice. In order to achieve a program's designation, an agent must make a significant personal commitment of time and resources, attend classes and demonstrate, through testing, a proficiency in the area of study. That's why not every agent you come in contact with has designations. For those that do, however, you have the assurance that they have made a well-above-average commitment to provide you with the very best service possible. Below is a description of my academic and professional designations (current and pending) and how they serve to benefit you.
Broker
In Real Estate, there are Brokers and Sales Agents. Brokers are licensed by the state to own and operate a real estate brokerage. A broker's license requires education and testing beyond the level required of a sales agent. All sales agents must work for a broker, and are therefore "agents" of their broker, hence the term "real estate agent." A Broker who works for another broker as a sales agent, is called a "Broker Associate." I am a state licensed Wisconsin Real Estate Broker, and a Broker Associate at Lake & City Home Realty.
MBA
Master of Business Administration. My advanced academic degree in marketing and sales and over 30 years of hands-on experience in every facet of marketing, advertising, sales promotion and public relations, allows me to formulate a robust, strategic business approach to your real estate transaction. This is a business where "experience" is a definite plus for clients.
Graduate Realtor's Institute. This designation acknowledges Realtors who have completed a comprehensive education program providing practical, customer-focused real estate training. This program is above and beyond the education required to earn a real estate license.
Certified Residential Specialist. Only 4% of the nation's agents achieve this nationally recognized designation. It is the "Masters Degree" of real estate education. Agents and Brokers with the CRS designation are exceptionally dedicated to providing clients with superior services and representation. Study includes listing, selling, investment, taxes and a proven record of experience in applied residential marketing.
Accredited Buyer Representative. This designation is the benchmark of excellence in Buyer Representation. The overall goal of the ABR designation is to educate and prepare buyer's representatives to provide the same kind of excellent service and fidelity to buyers that sellers have traditionally enjoyed.
Senior Real Estate Specialist. This designation is designed to provide REALTORS with the tools and training required to effectively serve this highly specialized senior market. Among the topics the agent studies are generational demographics, tax laws, probate and estate planning. The SRES has made the commitment to understand, appreciate and serve the specific needs and sensitivities of the senior market.
International Consortium of Real Estate Associations. This organization is comprised of more than 25 leading national real estate organizations, representing two million brokers and agents worldwide, each of whom adhere to a code of conduct. Agents and Brokers who are Certified by the ICREA are trained to assist their clients by facilitating transnational real estate business.
